Treatment of haematological cancers

The Gustave Roussy Haematology Committee is responsible for management of patients with bone marrow and lymph node diseases (malignant blood diseases):

  • Acute and chronic myeloid leukaemias
  • Acute and chronic lymphocytic leukaemias
  • Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas
  • Hodgkin’s lymphomas
  • Multiple myeloma
  • Myeloproliferative syndromes, essential thrombocythaemia, polycythaemia rubra vera and myelofibrosis, mastocytosis
  • Myelodysplastic syndromes, chronic myelomonocytic leukaemias

Gustave Roussy possesses the technical laboratory, imaging and clinical resources required for optimal management of patients with blood diseases.
When the precise diagnosis is already known, patients are referred to the Department’s doctors according to the type of haematological disease they harbour.

The Haematology Department performs autologous transplants and allografts of haemopoietic stem cells. There are 4 care facilities located on the 6th to 8th floors (more than 40 beds). These are the Loiret, Suzanne Axel, Paris D1 and Paris D2 Units, the latter two being protective isolation units (20 beds equipped with laminar flow).
The Onco-haematology Day Hospital sees patients whose treatment can be administered on an ambulatory basis.

The Haematology Committee also participates in the development of new drugs in the context of early clinical trials.
