Pink October: Because there isn’t just one type of breast cancer—there are many.
Today, more and more women are recovering from breast cancer. This is a tremendous victory. Yet for many of them, the struggle does not end with the completion of treatment. Persistent fatigue, chronic pain, physical aftereffects, fear of relapse…
Even today, it remains difficult to predict with precision which women are at the highest risk of relapse and which could be spared certain aggressive treatments without compromising their chances of recovery. Because these risks cannot be measured with precision, some patients are still receiving excessive treatment, while others could benefit from more intensive care. Through the “50 Shades of Pink” program, the teams at Gustave Roussy aim to develop new tools capable of more accurately assessing each woman’s individual risk of relapse and toxicity.
Their goal is clear: to offer each patient the most appropriate treatment—neither too much nor too little—to ensure a lasting recovery and a preserved quality of life.
