Médecin Chercheur en intelligence artificielle
L’Institut Gustave Roussy, based at Villejuif, France, is recruiting a Médecin Chercheur in Artificial Intelligence applied to Pathology.
Gustave Roussy leading Cancer Centre in Europe and located close to Paris, and is ranked #6 world's best oncology hospital according to Newsweek magazine. The institute treats patients with all types of cancer at any age and is an expert in treating rare and complex tumors. We place innovation at the heart of a human, scientific and technological revolution in the fight against cancer, based on ultra-individualization. Gustave Roussy wishes to integrate care, clinical research, translational research and exploratory research as much as possible to understand cancer complexity and multiple dimensions and to promote a powerful dynamic of patient-oriented translational research. 4 000 people are working on-site, including 1 000 people having research activities and 12 highly cited researchers. Our physicians and researchers respond to a continuing challenge: deliver patients the fruits of the most recent advances. The goal is to generate practices and products that transform the disease and meet the criteria of scientific excellence.
About the role
Gustave Roussy seeks a talented and highly motivated expert with a strong background in artificial intelligence applied to pathology. Image analyses based on new methods in applied mathematics have been shown to generate new predictors and provide new insights to discover therapeutic targets. With respect to medical practice, there is a crucial need to integrate digital pathology into the standard pathway of care. In order to address these challenges, Gustave Roussy is recruiting an innovative pathologist who could run a research program focused on new mathematical methods to analyze molecular pathology, together with running a clinical program that will implement AI approaches in the field of pathology. This includes moving forward the scientific partnership between Gustave Roussy and Owkin that already includes three large programs (Pershist, RACE and MOSAIC studies).
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Research and the Head of the Department of laboratory medicine. She/He will receive a starting grant of 1M €.
She/He will have access to the full infrastructure of Gustave Roussy and all data from the patients treated in the Institute. She/He will have access to all core facilities from Gustave Roussy, including the spatial transcriptomics, imaging mass cytometry, spatial immunofluorescence facilities. She/He will work in a vibrant and multidisciplinary environment of excellence with the opportunity to collaborate and work with mathematics teams, in the context of partnerships between Gustave Roussy, École Centrale Supelec, and Université Paris Saclay.
