Professor Stefan Michiels
Professor Stefan Michiels is a biostatistician and Head of the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Office within the Clinical Research Department at Gustave Roussy. An Adjunct Professor at the University of Paris-Saclay, he also leads the Oncostat research team at UMR U1018 Inserm/CESP/University of Paris-Saclay. He holds two Master’s degrees in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from KU Leuven (Belgium), a PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Paris-Saclay, as well as a habilitation to supervise research.
At the University of Paris-Saclay, Stefan Michiels teaches courses focused on biomedical research methodology, biostatistics, and the development of clinical prediction models. He is a member of several scientific committees and learned societies and is part of the ESMO Faculty.
Stefan Michiels is author or co-author of more than 300 peer-reviewed scientific publications (publications). His work has been published in journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association, The Lancet, and Statistics in Medicine. His expertise in statistical methodology applied to clinical trials and biomedical research spans from the design to the analysis of clinical trials, independent data monitoring committees, and the statistical analysis of biomarkers or prediction models, thereby contributing to precision medicine.
