Gustave Roussy International

Gustave Roussy International is the Gustave Roussy subsidiary dedicated to developing international partnerships. Its mission is to extend beyond France’s borders the expertise, know-how, and quality standards that have earned France’s and Europe’s leading cancer center its reputation. 

By establishing collaborations and partnerships with foreign healthcare institutions, Gustave Roussy International supports the development of oncological expertise in partner countries. By sharing Gustave Roussy’s medical, scientific, and organizational expertise, GRI helps establish high-quality care pathways and research programs that benefit local populations.

Since 2021, Gustave Roussy International has been promoting Gustave Roussy’s expertise through consulting engagements and, since 2024, through brand licensing agreements with partner healthcare institutions abroad. These partnerships are based on Gustave Roussy’s unique quality approach, as well as on the implementation of training programs and ongoing support for local healthcare teams, tailored to the realities and needs of each country. The goal for each of our partners is to eventually become a true hub and a regional leader in oncology.

Gustave Roussy International Egypt marks a milestone: it is the very first brand-licensing partnership signed by Gustave Roussy International, paving the way for a new development model for the institution. The agreements, signed on April 7, 2025, involving the Egyptian government and the Elevate Hospitals group, constitute the very first public-private partnership since the enactment of the August 2024 law authorizing such partnerships in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

This first-of-its-kind initiative in global oncology enables Gustave Roussy to bring its quality approach, brand name, and expertise to Egypt through the training of local healthcare teams, the implementation of protocols aligned with the institution’s standards, and ongoing medical and organizational support. 

The goal is to make Gustave Roussy Egypt the regional leader in cutting-edge cancer care, offering patients in Egypt and the region access to internationally recognized standards of oncological care, and enabling the deployment of clinical research tailored to this part of the world.

On May 19, 2026, building on the international momentum initiated in Egypt at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the National Oncology Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan became Gustave Roussy International Uzbekistan, becoming the first national center to join the network of partner institutions operating under a brand license. This move reaffirms the global stature of the Gustave Roussy International network.

As the flagship of 18 regional branches, Gustave Roussy International Uzbekistan is becoming the benchmark for cutting-edge oncology in Central Asia, extending its influence both within the country and to neighboring nations, notably Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan.

Numerous projects are currently being finalized in Asia, Central Europe, Africa, and South America. 2026 and 2027 will be years of strong growth.

Within Gustave Roussy International is a separate entity: Gustave Roussy Alumni, the association that brings together all Gustave Roussy alumni (doctors, researchers, healthcare professionals, and staff who were trained or worked at the institution).

With more than 2,400 members from 35 different countries, this network is now one of the most valuable assets of Gustave Roussy’s presence across five continents. Every alumnus, no matter where in the world they practice, continues to embody the institution’s values and scientific excellence.

An alumni network of this scale is strategic for several reasons:

• A source of international influence, with each member serving as an ambassador for Gustave Roussy’s excellence in their country of practice;
• A springboard for new partnerships, as many alumni hold leadership positions in foreign healthcare institutions;
• A vehicle for scientific exchange, through the sharing of knowledge and best practices between France and the countries represented;
• A testament to the institution’s appeal, with the diversity of 35 nationalities reflecting Gustave Roussy’s influence beyond France’s borders.
