Institutional Project 2026–2030
To cure 80% of cancer patients by 2040. This is the goal guiding Gustave Roussy’s 2026–2030 institutional plan. More than just a roadmap, this plan sets the course for the next five years to transform cancer care, accelerate innovation, and offer every patient the best chance of recovery.
Against a backdrop marked by the rise of innovative therapies, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine, Gustave Roussy reaffirms its role as a European and global leader in oncology. Its unique model combines care, research, education, and innovation to advance the fight against cancer at every stage of the patient journey.
An ambition
Every year, scientific advances open up new possibilities for preventing, diagnosing, and treating cancer. To keep pace with these developments, Gustave Roussy is adapting its organizational structure and increasing its investments in the areas that will have the greatest impact on patients.
The 2026–2030 institutional plan is based on a strong conviction: medical, technological, and human progress must enable more patients to be cured, to live better with the disease, and to benefit more quickly from innovations.
Four Priorities for Accelerating the Transformation of Cancer Care
Every patient is unique. Their care must be, too.
Gustave Roussy is developing precision medicine capable of tailoring treatments to the characteristics of each cancer and the needs of each patient. The goal is to provide the right care, at the right time, with the greatest possible benefit.
The Institute will also strengthen its programs for personalized prevention, rapid diagnosis, and patient support to improve the patient experience throughout the entire care journey.
Research and innovation are at the heart of the Gustave Roussy model. The institution’s strategic plan aims to accelerate the development of innovations capable of tangibly transforming patients’ lives. By drawing on the strength of its research teams, precision medicine, immunotherapy, tumor biology, and data science, the Institute intends to further strengthen its role as a global leader in oncology.
This ambition is also part of the development of the future research campus and the expansion of the unique scientific ecosystem centered around Gustave Roussy and the Paris-Saclay Cancer Cluster.
Data and artificial intelligence are already transforming medicine.
The digital revolution is opening up unprecedented opportunities to better prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. Over the next few years, Gustave Roussy will expand its use of health data, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies to improve patient care pathways, support healthcare professionals, and accelerate research.
Gustave Roussy intends to fully harness their potential to better understand cancers, improve medical decision-making, streamline patient care pathways, and accelerate research.
Investing in the future of healthcare requires a sustainable model.
The institutional plan aims to consolidate the Institute’s resources, modernize its infrastructure, develop strategic partnerships, and secure the necessary funding for medical and scientific innovation.
This stability is essential to continue anticipating major developments in oncology and to preserve Gustave Roussy’s excellence over the long term.
Collective Intelligence for the Benefit of Patients
The 2026–2030 Institutional Plan is driven by all of Gustave Roussy’s professionals: physicians, researchers, healthcare providers, educators, data experts, and hospital and administrative staff.
Their collective commitment is one of the Institute’s greatest strengths. Together, they share a common mission: to advance knowledge, push the boundaries of medicine, and offer a future to an ever-growing number of patients.
