Innovating to Improve Treatment of ENT Cancers: Robotic Surgery, a Flagship Research Program at Gustave Roussy:
Gustave Roussy is the first French institution to have acquired the Da Vinci Xi surgical robot. With the arrival of the robot, ENT cancer surgery is undergoing a true revolution for patients: it has become much less invasive and much more precise.
The TORS study, which aims to advance robotic surgery for ENT cancers, seeks to evaluate the feasibility of performing procedures through natural orifices to avoid significant physical disfigurement. With this new technique, Gustave Roussy will become a leading center for robotic surgery of ENT cancers, offering tangible benefits for patients:
- A shorter hospital stay
- Reduced postoperative pain
- Lower risk of infection
- Fewer blood transfusions
- A smaller scar
- Shorter recovery time
