Professor Eric Deutsch
Professor Éric Deutsch is a radiation oncologist at the Gustave Roussy Institute, where he has headed the Department of Radiation Oncology since 2012. He is also a Full Professor and Hospital Practitioner (PU-PH) in Radiation Oncology at Paris-Saclay University. Since 2022, he has served as Vice Dean for Research at the Faculty of Medicine at Paris-Saclay.
A recognized specialist in radiotherapy, Professor Deutsch focuses his work on optimizing cancer treatments, particularly through the integration of innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), radiomics, and radiobiology. He is the lead investigator of the RHU LySAIRI project (Lymphocyte-Sparing Artificial Intelligence-guided Radio-Immunotherapy), a €9.9 million initiative aimed at developing AI-guided radio-immunotherapy strategies while preserving lymphocytes (PubMed).
As Director of the joint research unit INSERM U1030 “Molecular Radiotherapy and Therapeutic Innovations,” he oversees preclinical research in radiobiology, immunotherapy, biomarkers, and radiomics applied to radiotherapy. His work seeks to better understand interactions between tumors and their microenvironment in order to personalize and enhance treatment efficacy.
Professor Deutsch is also the organizer of the international ImmunoRad conference, which brings together global experts to discuss advances in radiotherapy-immunotherapy combinations. The 9th edition of the conference, held in Paris in September 2025, highlighted recent innovations in this field, including immunomodulatory radiotherapy and lymph node preservation strategies (PubMed).
