Social work assistants are available by appointment to guide you through the necessary steps and work with you to find the solutions best suited to your social situation: access to healthcare and benefits, financial difficulties, post-hospitalization care, etc. The Social Services Department is part of the Interdisciplinary Department for Patient Care Coordination (DIOPP).

Access to Benefits and Healthcare

  • Social Security: Daily benefits, long-term illness, occupational diseases, supplemental health insurance;
  • Application for Universal Health Coverage (CMU), State Medical Assistance (AME).
  • House for People with Disabilities (MDPH): Disability Card, Adult Disability Allowance (AAH), Disability Compensation Benefit (PCH), vocational rehabilitation;
  • Job retention and information regarding labor law.

Health Insurance Plans

Depending on which health insurance plan you belong to, the consequences of illness will vary: some patients will receive their full salary, while others will lose all income.

For the general, self-employed tradespeople and merchants (Non Non), and agricultural workers schemes, the maximum duration of benefits from Social Security is 3 years. To be eligible, the insured person must be current on their contributions, particularly for self-employed tradespeople and merchants.

Civil servants are eligible for full pay if they are declared to have a long-term illness.

Patients covered by the Private Health Insurance Scheme or farmers may receive daily benefits only if they have private health insurance. If this is not the case, it is possible to apply for the Active Solidarity Income (RSA). If your sick leave causes financial or practical difficulties, we are here to help you cope and, if necessary, connect you with the social services best equipped to support you.

What Happens After Your Hospitalization

If you wish, or if your doctor suggests that you go to a nursing home, a convalescent facility, or a rehabilitation center, social workers can advise you and work with you to find the healthcare facilities best suited to your situation. The Social Services Department will follow up on your requests and keep you informed of the progress of your case. You can also contact us to prepare for your return home.
