Topic
As part of the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Office at Gustave Roussy and the Oncostat research team “Methodology and Clinical Epidemiology in Molecular Oncology,” our missions are to:
- Conduct economic evaluations of health strategies. We are involved in projects under the DGOS’s hospital research programs (PHRC, PRME, PREPS), RHU/IHU initiatives, and European projects.
- Design and conduct health economics research using data from clinical trials, surveys, prospective cohorts, or medical-administrative data.
- Participate in teaching (Master’s in Market Access and Health Economic Evaluation, Master’s in Health Economics) and in scientific leadership in health economics (College of Health Economists, ESMO Public Policy Committee).
Resource Use in Oncology
To quantify the resources allocated by the public sector to the management of certain cancers, we conduct cost studies using data from the National Health Data System (cost of acute myeloid leukemia as part of the SIRIC Epicure project) and cohort data such as COBLAnCE, a prospective cohort of patients with bladder cancer.
Efficiency and Budgetary Impact of Cancer Interventions
We apply economic evaluation methods to various areas of oncology: prevention and screening initiatives, diagnostic strategies, treatments, supportive care, and models of care organization. We also conduct research on these methodologies.
Costs and Access to Innovations in Oncology
Using surveys and medical-administrative databases (PMSI and SNDS), we evaluate national programs such as the France Genomic Medicine 2025 Plan, the impact of pricing mechanisms (e.g., RIHN), and access to innovations in molecular biology and novel treatments.
