Summary
The “Nanomedicine” team, led by Dr. Alexandre Detappe, is conducting cutting-edge research at the intersection of chemistry, materials science, and translational oncology, focusing on the concept of dynamic precision nanomedicine. Their work aims to design adaptive therapeutic approaches capable of addressing tumor heterogeneity and the resistance mechanisms that limit the effectiveness of current biotherapies. The team focuses its research on three indications: breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and multiple myeloma.
Backed by the scientific community at Inserm, Gustave Roussy, and Paris-Saclay University, the team organizes its activities around three complementary areas: subcutaneously injectable hydrogels for the controlled delivery of monoclonal antibodies and immunoconjugates; polymeric and lipid nanoparticles for the targeted delivery of new therapeutic agents; and their (bio)functionalization to improve specific cellular targeting.
Designated a “Ligue contre le Cancer Team” and the recipient of two ERC grants (Starting Grant and Proof of Concept), the team is strongly committed to translational research, as exemplified by the Phase II clinical trial of AGuIX nanoparticles. It also fosters numerous academic and industrial collaborations, particularly within the framework of the “Innovative Biotherapies” PEPR (MONO-CHEM program), and actively promotes the commercialization of its research through three lab-spun-off companies: Theraguix, TherO2, and Recobia Therapeutics.
