Objectives and Challenges

Over the past 10 years, the success of immunotherapies targeting immune checkpoints has demonstrated the value of targeting the immune system to treat cancer. Our work builds on these findings, based on the conviction that cancer is an immune-mediated disease.

Our team aims to develop more effective immunotherapy strategies while reducing their potential side effects by studying the immunology of cancers and of patients treated with immunotherapy.

Research Areas

On the one hand, our team seeks to elucidate the mechanisms of resistance, response, and toxicity associated with immunotherapies by analyzing tumor and blood samples collected from patients enrolled in clinical trials.

Additionally, our laboratory studies tumor immunology to identify new therapeutic targets and develop innovative approaches to immunotherapy.

Scientific, Clinical, and Societal Implications

Our goal is to demonstrate that the care of cancer patients can be optimized when it is based more on the biological and immunological characteristics of the tumor than on its histology alone.

Ultimately, a treatment approach based on each patient’s unique biology will improve treatment efficacy, reduce toxicity, and promote more personalized medicine for the benefit of patients and society.
