Summary

Themes, Objectives, and Challenges

U1356 conducts basic and translational research in pediatric and adult immuno-oncology, aiming to better understand, predict, and improve the response to immunotherapies. Its research focuses on antitumor immunity mediated by T cells, NK cells, and myeloid cells; mechanisms of tumor resistance; predictive biomarkers; and new therapeutic strategies, including CAR-T, CAR-M, vaccines, checkpoint inhibitors, and combination therapies. This research addresses adult cancers, particularly lung, breast, and ovarian cancers, as well as pediatric solid tumors, including sarcomas and gliomas.

Results, Prospects, and Scientific, Clinical, and Societal Impacts

The unit operates within an environment that brings together researchers, clinicians, technological platforms, fresh tumor samples, and innovative models, including organoids, tumoroids, and ex vivo human tumor slices. By combining tissue imaging, single-cell analysis, spatial transcriptomics, flow cytometry, genetic engineering, and clinical data, it aims to identify new targets, biomarkers, and strategies to enhance the efficacy of immunotherapies and reduce resistance and toxicity. Its ambition is to promote personalized immuno-oncology, with a direct impact on patients and academic, clinical, and industrial collaborations.
