Strategic Plan 2030: Focused and Catalysed Multidisciplinary Research

To bring together the best of all scientific disciplines and forge close ties among experts in medicine, science, and industry to accelerate research that has a significant impact on society by leveraging data, cutting-edge technologies, and a culture of curiosity, perseverance, and openness.

Plan stratégique couverture

A new 10-year scientific strategy, the Gustave Roussy 2030 Plan, is revolutionizing the institute’s research, which is based on proactive measures to prevent cancer and better control it.

Building on inductive, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research

Co-founded by Sanofi, Inserm, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, and Paris-Saclay University, the Paris-Saclay Cancer Cluster brings together the best interdisciplinary expertise and biotech companies within a high-potential ecosystem. About ten innovative projects and large-scale clinical trials will be selected each year within this center for prospective oncology, which all stakeholders in the field of oncology are invited to join.

Enhanced collaboration among physicians, researchers, industry representatives, and startups aims to drive more technology-focused and collaborative research that explores new disciplines (mathematics, physics, humanities, and social sciences, etc.), educational fields, and professional sectors. Cross-disciplinary synergy to drive concrete innovations: therapeutic solutions based on the microbiome, stem cells, or the molecular analysis of Rare Circulating Cells.

Conducting research that directly benefits patients

This research, conducted in close proximity to patients at Gustave Roussy, will have a greater impact in tangibly transforming future care and treatments.

Ten major flagship medical-scientific programs have been launched with this ambition as part of the strategic plan. From childhood cancers (Crescendo) to understanding the mechanisms of resistance to innovative therapies, these programs draw on the latest advances: (profiling of samples analyzed on high-throughput platforms, biomarkers, etc.) and provide patients—both adults and children—with early access to large cohorts (Canto) and concrete scientific advances.

As beacons of the future and symbols of this concentration of expertise, university-hospital health research projects (RHU) also reflect the ambition for individualized, more targeted, and less invasive research.
