Thoracic Committee

Director: Professor David Plachard

Coordinated Expertise in Thoracic Cancers

The committee is composed of experts from the International Center for Thoracic Cancers. It brings together medical oncologists, pulmonologists, thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons, radiation oncologists, radiologists, interventional radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and pathologists to provide coordinated care for thoracic cancers. The committee organizes multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, during which the medical records of cancer patients are reviewed and discussed collectively to determine the treatment strategy best suited to the type of tumor, its stage, and each patient’s individual circumstances.

The committee’s physicians also contribute to the advancement of clinical and translational research in thoracic oncology and participate in numerous clinical trials aimed at improving diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for patients with thoracic cancers.

Specific Areas of Expertise

The Committee's Professionals

Translational Research on Thoracic Tumors

The committee works closely with the Institute’s research teams and units:

• The Molecular Radiotherapy and Therapeutic Innovations Research Unit (U1355 RAMO-IT)

• The Rare Circulating Cells Platform, led by Marianne Oulhen

• The Tumor Plasticity under Anticancer Therapy team, led by Luc Friboulet, affiliated with U981 Molecular Predictors and New Targets in Oncology.

Rare Circulating Cells Platform

The platform specializes in the molecular analysis of rare blood cell components, such as circulating tumor cells and circulating endothelial cells or progenitors, which are used as biomarkers in therapeutic trials.
