The ESMO Congress
Every year, Gustave Roussy participates in the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress, a major event in oncology research held annually in a major European city.
A conference dedicated to advances in research and clinical practice
As Europe’s largest gathering in medical oncology, the ESMO Congress brings together professionals from around the world each year to discuss advances in research and clinical practice through a variety of presentation formats.
Every year, experts from Gustave Roussy present their studies there, thereby demonstrating the Institute’s excellence.

Gustave Roussy at the ESMO Congress Over the Years
At this year’s event, held in Berlin, physician-researchers from Gustave Roussy presented 60 scientific studies covering a wide range of topics: resistance mechanisms in innovative therapies, analysis of pharmacological treatments, gender equity issues in oncology, and more…
Gathered in Barcelona, experts from Gustave Roussy presented studies highlighting new therapeutic strategies (hypofractionated radiation therapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies), an analysis of mechanisms of treatment resistance, as well as the development of precision medicine and molecular profiling in several types of cancer (breast, lung, prostate, thymus, sarcomas, and rare tumors). Studies also addressed issues such as prevention, supportive care, and the impact of environmental factors.
