Whenever possible, certain administrative procedures can be completed before your arrival.
This step helps minimize the time spent on paperwork on the day of your visit and makes your admission process smoother.
If you have any questions regarding your administrative paperwork, our staff can assist you before your appointment or hospital admission.
Depending on your situation, you may be asked to present:
- a form of identification;
- your Vitale card;
- your certificate of coverage;
- your supplemental health insurance card;
- any additional supporting documents requested by the administrative staff.
In the event of hospitalization: be sure to bring your supplemental health insurance coverage, if you have it. It may cover certain costs related to your stay, depending on the coverage provided by your policy.
Your coverage depends on your immigration status and your health insurance plan.
Healthcare costs may be covered in full or in part by Medicare and, if applicable, by your supplemental health insurance.
The administrative staff at Gustave Roussy can assist you with the necessary procedures and answer your questions regarding:
- your health insurance provider
- your supplemental health insurance
- 100% coverage
- the Solidarity-Based Supplemental Health Insurance (CSS)
- State Medical Assistance (AME)

Medical Transportation
In certain situations, your doctor may prescribe transportation that is appropriate for your medical condition.
The medical prescription for transportation must be issued before the trip and must be justified by your medical condition. Prescriptions issued on the same day as a medical appointment generally do not cover the cost of the one-way trip.
The mode of transportation is determined by your doctor based on your medical condition:
- personal vehicle or public transportation
- contracted taxi
- light medical vehicle (VSL)
- ambulance
Special Cases
Prior approval may be required:
- for trips longer than 150 km;
- for certain repeated transports related to the same treatment.
