Area for notaries and wealth management advisors
As a notary, wealth management advisor, insurance agent, banker, or attorney, you serve as a key liaison between your clients and Gustave Roussy.
That is why we have created this space to provide you with useful information and documents to help you advise your clients or assist you in managing an estate in which the Gustave Roussy Institute or Foundation is a beneficiary.
Two legal entities eligible to receive bequests, donations, and life insurance proceeds: the Gustave Roussy Institute and the Gustave Roussy Foundation—what are the differences?
The Gustave Roussy Institute is authorized to receive donations and bequests pursuant to the ordinance of October 1, 1945, and Articles 795 and 200 of the General Tax Code (CGI). As a result, it enjoys the same rights as public health institutions and is therefore exempt from transfer taxes on assets donated or bequeathed to it, which allows it to:
- Conduct high-level research
- Renovate patient care units and construct new research buildings
- Acquire state-of-the-art equipment
- Offer support programs
The Gustave Roussy Research Foundation has been recognized as a public-benefit organization since December 30, 2005. Its mission is to oversee basic and translational research at Gustave Roussy. Bequests made to the Foundation are also exempt from gift tax and make it possible to:
- Attract and retain top talent in oncology
- Ensure long-term exploratory research
- Support the training of young researchers
- Foster scientific collaborations

Submission of Bequests and Donations to the Board of Directors of Gustave Roussy or its Foundation
Once all the documents required to review the application have been received, an analysis of the estate’s financial and legal situation is conducted, the net amount of the bequest or donation is assessed, and the application is presented to the Board of Directors of the Gustave Roussy Institute or its Foundation.
Timeline: The Institute’s Board of Directors meets four times a year, and the Foundation’s Board of Directors meets twice a year.
Following the Board of Directors meeting, the Gustave Roussy Institute’s Gift Management Department forwards the decision to the notary, who can then proceed with settling the estate in collaboration with us.
