Gustave Roussy strengthens its governance with the appointment of Juliette Le Gelard as deputy chief executive officer
Following the reappointment of Professor Fabrice Barlesi as Chief Executive Officer for a second five-year term, Gustave Roussy is strengthening its governance. Juliette Le Gelard has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer, effective 3 September 2026. Several other appointments will also support changes in the medical, clinical research and nursing departments.
By an order dated 27 July 2026 issued by Stéphanie Rist, Minister for Health, Families, Autonomy and People with Disabilities, Professor Fabrice Barlesi was reappointed Chief Executive Officer of Gustave Roussy with effect from 1 August 2026. At the head of the Institute for a further five years, he intends to continue the transformations initiated during his first term and pursue the ambitions set out in the 2026-2030 Strategic Plan.
Juliette Le Gelard appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer
Juliette Le Gelard will take up her position as Deputy Chief Executive Officer on 3 September 2026. A graduate of École Polytechnique with a Master of Science in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, Juliette Le Gelard has more than fifteen years of experience leading large-scale transformations, particularly in the healthcare, industrial goods and consumer goods sectors. Her career spans strategy, operational excellence, organisational transformation, human resources, digital health and artificial intelligence applications.
She began her career in 2011 at Boston Consulting Group. For almost ten years, she advised major companies on assignments relating in particular to operational and organisational efficiency, innovation, go-to-market strategies and digital transformation.
In 2020, she joined Doctolib as People Strategy and Transformation Director. In this role, she defined the human resources strategy and led major projects involving HR transformation and information systems. In particular, she supported the rollout of shared processes and tools for 3,000 employees and introduced performance indicators for the Executive Committee and managers.
In June 2023, she became Director of Digital Health and Patient Solutions. In this role, she led the development of a new business focused on an artificial intelligence-powered health companion within the Doctolib application, defining its strategic vision and overseeing its go-to-market activities.
At Gustave Roussy, her role will be to support the Executive Management team, particularly in its pursuit of operational excellence. In this capacity, she will lead major performance and transformation priorities, drawing on human and financial resources, organisational development, digital technology and the real estate master plan.
Renewed governance serving patient care and research
Professor Éric Deutsch, Head of the Radiation Oncology Department, becomes Medical Director. He will oversee this major division dedicated to patients and healthcare professionals, as well as the Nursing Department and the Quality and Patient Services Department.
Vincent Serre joined Gustave Roussy on 31 August 2026 as Director of Nursing. Until recently, Vincent Serre was Director of Nursing and General Nursing Coordinator at the Percy Military Teaching Hospital in Clamart.
Working alongside Professor Fabrice André, Director of Research, Professor Laurence Albiges, Head of the Medical Oncology Department, has been appointed Director of Clinical Research. Professor Benjamin Besse, who is due to take on international responsibilities as President of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), becomes Deputy Director of Clinical Research.

The 2026-2030 Strategic Plan as a roadmap
This new governance team will be responsible for delivering the Strategic Plan and preparing Gustave Roussy for the next decade. Its objectives are to consolidate the Institute’s position as the French and European leader in oncology and to provide all employees with a working environment that enables them to excel in their missions serving patients, research and education.
