As an internationally renowned Institute, Gustave Roussy is treating adults and children suffering frequent or rare cancers, at all stages of the disease.
The Institute treats around 12,000 new patients every year, including an increasing number of international patients, who come to benefit from the medical and scientific expertise of the first cancer care center in Europe. Cancer treatment at Gustave Roussy
Your admission to Gustave Roussy
Once your care pathway is organized by our International Department, you will be assigned to the service that is specialized in the treatment of your pathology. You will be followed by a referring doctor, who will ensure the consistency and smooth running of your therapy. Depending on your pathology, you might see several doctors, but you will be in constant contact with your referring doctor.
Upon your arrival
Unless otherwise indicated, present yourself with your convocation to the central reception desk in the hospital hall. The receptionist will provide you with a circulation form and your appointment programme for the day and will direct you to the Department for Medico-Administrative Relations (SRMA) to confirm the validation of your financial cover and thus your admission.
Visit of your relatives
Your relatives can visit you most often between 1 pm and 8 pm. Should you be willing to modify these hours, please consult the nurse or the upstream medical team to submit your request.
To make your stay more pleasant, patient rooms are available in some wards.
At the end of your stay
At the end of your stay at Gustave Roussy, and before your departure, please go to the secretariat of the International Department to retrieve your complete medical report and anticipate the follow-up of your pathway, while organizing the return to your country of residence.
At the end of your stay, Gustave Roussy will coordinate the outpatient care that may be needed to monitor your treatment outside the Institute.
If your pathology does not require a room at the hospital, you will be able to pick up one of the two partner hotels of Gustave Roussy located near the Institute, and allowing patients to benefit from a hotel accommodation during their treatment.
Specific accommodation is also offered to parents of children hospitalized at the Institute.
An adapted catering service is proposed to the patients, taking into account the treatments in progress, the possible side effects, as well as the tastes and the religious beliefs of the patients. This offer highlights fresh products, labeled (organic, red label ...) and cooked on site. The choice is varied and customizable with a daily order of meals at the bedside.
Some of the offered menus were designed with Alexandre Bourdas, chef of the SaQuaNa restaurant based in Honfleur and awarded 2 stars.
At Gustave Roussy, your beliefs are respected, in a framework of ethics and respect for patients. Means have been put in place at the Institute to allow the practice of different cults.
Gustave Roussy does not coordinate the assignment of interpreters to patients who have the responsibility to identify themselves an interpreter to accompany them during their hospitalization. However, multilingual staff can provide support, when required, and upon their availability. Please refer to the secretariat of the International Department regarding this aspect.
