Professor Pierre Blanchard
Professor Pierre Blanchard is an oncologist-radiotherapist, specialising in the treatment of head and neck, skin, endocrine, and genitourinary tumours (prostate, kidney, bladder, testicle) at Gustave Roussy. Initially the Director of the School of Cancer Sciences at Gustave Roussy, he has been the Secretary General of Gustave Roussy Education, the organisation responsible for coordinating all teaching activities within the institution, since 2024. In 2025, he was appointed head of the urology committee at Gustave Roussy.
Professor of oncological radiotherapy at the University of Paris-Saclay, Pierre Blanchard is responsible for the university diploma in radiotherapy for head and neck cancers and teaches in numerous training programmes at Gustave Roussy and the Faculty of Medicine at Paris-Saclay on his areas of expertise. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, USA).
Professor Blanchard is a member of the Board of Directors of the Head and Neck Oncology Radiotherapy Group (GORTEC), the scientific advisory board of the Genitourinary Tumour Study Group (GETUG), the scientific advisory board of the French Society of Radiotherapy Oncology (ESTRO), and the clinical lead of the head and neck oncology meta-analysis team.
A principal investigator in national and international research projects in urological and head and neck cancer, he has authored more than 200 publications. Since 2024, he has been the Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal Radiotherapy & Oncology.
