Dr Camelia Billard-Sandu is a medical oncologist and Head of the Inpatient Service in the Oncology-Radiotherapy Department at Gustave Roussy. A dedicated specialist, she focuses her work on two key areas: patient partnership and photobiomodulation in supportive oncology care.
She leads the teaching of photobiomodulation through a University Diploma and specialised seminars, committed to promoting this innovative approach that helps better manage the side effects of anticancer treatments and improves patients’ quality of life. She also founded the Oncolum centre, dedicated to research and care in photobiomodulation, as well as an information platform accessible to patients and healthcare professionals.

Deeply involved in developing patient partnership, Dr Billard-Sandu actively works to integrate peer support into oncology care pathways. As part of her doctoral thesis at the University of Paris-Saclay, she studies the contribution of peer supporters to personalised patient care. She is also responsible for the University Diploma in Participatory Health in Oncology and regularly organises symposiums to promote this approach among patients and healthcare professionals.
As Head of Patient Experience and Partnership within the Quality, Risk Management and Patient Relations Directorate, she leads numerous innovative projects aimed at fully integrating patients’ voices, developing peer support, and improving the quality of cancer care.
