Dr Samuel Abbou is a paediatric neuro-oncologist and physician-researcher at the Gustave Roussy Cancer Centre, in the Department of Paediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology. After completing his medical training in Paris, he pursued his doctoral research in Boston at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute / Harvard Medical School.

He leads the day hospital and oversees the precision medicine and paediatric liquid biopsy programme. His expertise primarily focuses on the management of brain tumours, both at first diagnosis and in relapsed cases, with a particular interest in therapeutic innovation and next-generation treatments in neuro-oncology.

In the field of research, he works within the Inserm U981 team “Genomics and Oncogenesis of Paediatric Brain Tumours.” His work focuses on analysing circulating tumour DNA and circulating tumour cells in brain tumours, sarcomas, and anaplastic lymphomas. The goal is to evaluate their prognostic and therapeutic potential, deepen the understanding of the biology of paediatric cancers, and develop new circulating biomarkers.

Dr Abbou is also a member of the scientific committee of the French Society of Paediatric Cancers and is actively involved in the Training and Sponsorship committees of ITCC (Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer), where he contributes to the training of young researchers and the evaluation of innovative therapeutic strategies in paediatric oncology.
